*The following post will not be spellchecked, in keeping with the spirit of the show*
So yeah, for those of you who weren't there for SUPER AMAZING ANIME LOCKDOWN SPECTACULAR '010, the last episode we watched was episode 18. Only 8 more to go, and I have absolutely no idea what's going to happen anymore! Wooo!
Anyway, spoilers will follow for anyone not caught up:
So yeah, this last week basically did away with my uncertainty, so I am now prepared to call Tylor a -good- show in addition to being an entertaining one. It helps immensely that the entire cast has decided to get considerably more likable, i.e. not doing things that are likely to result in each others' deaths quite so often. Mind you, this was a bit abrupt: Tylor's sudden and rather unprecedented -concern- for his crew sort of came out of nowhere, but it was nice to see. Likewise, the crew pulling together in difficult circumstances was something this show had been missing up to this point, so again, good that we got it.
Mind you a lot of things about the setting, like why the hell the higher-ups find Tylor such a problem that they actually need to -try- to destroy him and his crew rather than just let them bumble their way into victory (or get beaten and killed) escapes me, but you know, it is a spoof so it's not like the world can't be totally unreasonable.
Placing apparently-brainwashed Tylor (personally I think he's just entered a state of Super-Zen Chill) in the role of court-fool in the Raalgon empire was possibly the cleverest thing the show has done its entire run, if only because he's -so- well suited for it. And -finally- someone is like "Hey, this guy has squinty evil-eyes and is telling the empress what to do all the time, maybe this is a problem..."
It is... interesting to note that the series got so much better after the introduction of a (one-sided) romantic element between Tylor and Azlyn, who may technically be 16 but looks about 12. But whatever. At this point I'm just waiting for her to call him by his actual name and not the one she made up for him as her pet. Because really, that just adds a whole different level of creepiness to things.
Anyway, yeah, aside from that I'm not sure I feel at all qualified to make predictions, aside from hoping that Tylor doesn't stay in a coma for more than one episode (or even that long) just so he can have a more triumphant return at the end of the show or something. Also I would be very surprised if Azlyn returned to her duties as Empress before the end of the series. Right now my money is on her using her promise to "return after she tells Tylor" to stick around on the Soyokaze -not- telling him how she feels about him. Mind you that would probably entail the Soyokaze becoming the third side in this war, which is usually something that doesn't work very well (see: Gundam SEED and/or Destiny), but maybe in a comedy it'll be cool.
At any rate, I shall leave you with this AMV I found, which we should totally watch like, before the last week of Tylor starts or something. I've checked through it, and I think there's a couple clips from episodes we haven't seen yet, but I certainly couldn't extrapolate anything from them that would count as a spoiler, so.

(Also, as I still have Jen's DVDs, expect some sort of screencaps/macros/whatever in the future)
