Greetings, my little otakouhai!
For those of you who don't know me, I am Ben. Ask any of the older members about me, and the stories of my handsome and debonair exploits will knock your socks off, especially if they lie a bit!
But I'm not here to talk about my stunning Adonis-like perfection in my head, I'm here to tell you about past anime, anime that we watched as a club before you young'uns came along. And with that, off we go!
Genshiken
Genshiken has a special place in my heart because it's the series that made me an otaku. Before this series, I didn't really understand the lifestyle, but this is the one that really made me understand it for the first time. The first season's better than the second, but it's still worth it.
Paranoia Agent
Paranoia Agent is one of the trippiest and most psychologically wonderful shows I've ever seen. Despite only being thirteen episodes, shortness doesn't stop it from being brilliant. And the English dub is quite good!
Read or Die
Read or Die is stylistically awesome. Yomiko is a great character, and it's nonstop excitement for all three episodes. R.O.D.: the TV Series is better, in my opinion, but it's so different that I can understand serious disagreement on that.
Record of Lodoss War
Record of Lodoss War is a western LOTR/D&D-style anime, if that makes any sense. It's awesomeness is mainly based on its campiness; those of us who watched this together still chuckle when we think about "Parn-style combat".
So my Olympian-but-old brain can't seem to remember what else we've watched, but I'll post more as I remember them.
