Hey all! I'm sure many of you have this covered in your own lives, but I thought why not start a thread about online webcomics. I love them soooo much! I started out with MacHall (a hilarious webcomic for gamer enthusiasts.) Here is the link for the first comic. www.machall.com/view.php?date=2000-11-07Now I mostly read sinfest (which is my ABSOLUTE favorite, and you NEED to read it. ) www.sinfest.net/archive_page.php?comicID=1and xkcd (one of the most obvious webcomics, but always hilarious with witty comments you can use at parties.) xkcd.com/1/I kinda gave up on vgcats, but here is the link for it because it really did have good stuff in the beginning. www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=0<3

If you're ever looking for a specific genre of webcomic, send me a PM or something. I read about 100. Here are a couple gems I think people will like: Dominic Deegan (www.dominic-deegan.com)My absolute favorite. Clever, pun-tastic, and some pretty compelling stories and characters. Least I Could Do (www.leasticoulddo.com)Freakin' hilarious. Incredibly irreverent, though, and not for the easily offended. Seriously, don't say I didn't warn you. Bardsworth (www.bardsworth.com/)If you enjoy Harry Potter, you'll like this comic. Similar kind of magic/academic feel, and this one's at the collegiate level! Quite nifty. Dr. McNinja (drmcninja.com)If the name doesn't make you wanna read it, then there's no hope for you. Action at a Distance (a3d.comicgenesis.com/)Absolute pure genius that everybody should read. And the artist is an incredibly sexy man. I may someday post more that I read, but in the meantime, keep searching the net for gems!

I'm also a big fan of Mac hall, Sinfest, Leasticoulddo, and xkcd, but here are some more: Girl Genius ( www.girlgeniusonline.com) is my favorite, hands down. Incredible story, mad science, and awesome characters. Also hilarious. Three Panel Soul ( www.threepanelsoul.com) is the successor comic to Mac Hall, made by the same guys, about post-collegiate life. It updates sparingly but it's good. Buck Godot, Zap Gun for Hire ( www.zapgunforhire.com) also by the people who make Girl Genius, very funny and retro. Perry Bible Fellowship ( www.pbfcomics.com) No longer updating. Very funny in a dark way. Warning: Disturbing. Cyanide and Happiness ( www.explosm.net/comics/) Also disturbing. Frequently hilarious. Penny Arcade ( www.penny-arcade.com) is classic and awesome, but if you don't play video games you'll miss most of the jokes. Same goes for Ctrl-Alt-Del ( www.ctrlaltdel-online.com) although it has more character-driven story than does PA. Misfile ( www.misfile.com) is a very anime-style comic that's more story and character driven. Not much funny, but good. Aaaand Questionable Content ( www.questionablecontent.net) is also excellent, funny, and has great characters. it's also loooong. There are lots of other good dead or semi-dead webcomics out there (Last Blood, Gone with the Blastwave, Post-Nuke, and Megatokyo come to mind) but that's a good starter list.

I have two or three to add for people who are fans of the whimsical and absurd. www.asofterworld.com - wonderfully quirky little comics, comprised of pictures with captions. The author, Joey Comeau, has a lot of nifty side projects and writings to look at too. www.buttercupfestival.com - the adventures of a man who wears black and carries a scythe (but is not death) and his perpetually out-of-panel friend. Sort of Calvin-and-Hobbes-esque, with lots of love of nature. The biggest running themes are non-sequitur third panels and gorgeous landscape spreads. www.picturesforsadchildren.com - this is my favorite webcomic of all time. It is bleak and amazingly funny. Also, if you like T. S. Eliot's Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock you will appreciate the archives a lot. I will perhaps add more later, but those three are very nice indeed. Also I second the mentioning of Wondermark, it is good stuff.

I will add to the person who mentioned it among a bunch of other titles that Gunnerkrigg Court is the greatest thing since sliced anything. Great characters, interesting setting, artwork starts out a little meh but rapidly gets very good, and masterfully told, all things considered. It's in the same genre as Harry Potter, one might say--i.e. a boarding school where random magical happenings are going on, but the school is somewhat grimmer (like an industrial complex more than a school, really), the story is told with rather more wit, and there are more robots. Plus it is often adorable, and creepy, and just downright likable in damn near every way. Why are you still reading this post? Go click the link right now! --Also, endorsed by NEIL GAIMAN. YEAH IT'S THAT GOOD. www.gunnerkrigg.com

Wat. How have I not posted this here yet. www.mspaintadventures.com/You find yourself on a WEBSITE. This website contains a variety of WEBCOMICS. JAILBREAK and BARD QUEST are UNFINISHED, and NOT UP TO PAR with the others. PROBLEM SLEUTH is PRETTY COOL, but is mostly full of GAGS and NONSENSE. HOMESTUCK is undeniably THE BEST WEBCOMIC EVER WRITTEN. You have an annoying friend named LAUREN, who goes by INCHWYRM on certain FORUMS, who has been trying to make you read HOMESTUCK for MANY MONTHS. You start reading and are immediately dazzled by the ENGAGING PLOT and RELATABLE CHARACTERS. As you read further, you become anxious of the increasing likelihood of your THINKPAN exploding because of an overdose of SHEER AWESOMENESS. You also start to understand why this post was typed in this FORMAT with the multitude of CAPITALIZED PHRASES.
