Hello, all! These are the rules for the board. Mostly, it's about keeping everything respectful and open-minded as is the spirit of Kenyon. Please read them and keep them in mind for all your posts. Thanks, and enjoy the board!
-Read these rules as well as sticky topics. There’s nothing more obnoxious than a noob!
-Post in the correct section. All sections of the forum are clearly labeled for your convenience. Any posts unrelated to the topic or found inappropriate will be moved or deleted accordingly.
-Make an effort not to make pointless posts/topics. If they’re not related to what we do, don’t even bother to post. If someone’s answered a similar question to yours in another post, someone will notify you to redirect you and the topic will be deleted for cleanliness’s sake. Repeat offenders will be dealt with.
-No spamming. No posts/topics that solicit. No posts/topics that are only one word or a short sentence that essentially contribute nothing to the whole. That’s just annoying for anyone! Mild plugging for your own website/fanfic/fanart is permitted in the proper section, but nowhere else.
-Try not to double-post. Computers occasionally cause this to happen, but if you notice it, please try to delete one of them. Courtesy is key here.
-Don’t post unmarked spoilers for shows we’re watching in the club! Until we have watched the entire series, please keep all spoilers marked. Unmarked spoilers for other series, manga, video games, and movies are all right, provided that they have been released for at least six months. Otherwise, do your best to alert us that there are spoilers.
-Please don’t derail threads. Don’t post things that will disrupt the flow of conversation. If it’s different enough, make a new topic. Along the same lines, don’t troll. Trolling is defined as posting with the intent of ticking everyone else off or trying to cause an argument. It's fine if you disagree or debate with someone on some matter, but if you post in an antagonizing manner, it could be considered trolling. So please, be considerate.
-Don’t do anything that would get you suspended, expelled, or otherwise punished by Kenyon College or the legal system of the United States of America. No name-calling, no sexual harassment, no racial/ethical/orientation slurs, no threatening mental, emotional, or bodily harm to any other member. We’re all people that exist within the real world, and if these things happen online, you’ll be responsible for them in real life.
-Don’t request, provide or discuss illegal material. This means streaming, downloading, and otherwise pirating are NOT valid topics on this board. I can’t stress this enough! I understand that anime is fundamentally about using whatever means necessary to feed your obsession, but that’s not appropriate to talk about here. There are copyright issues that extend beyond Kenyon’s borders that could get you into legal trouble. This goes especially for the recommendation board: you may recommend works for us to share, but you may not continue to describe how we can/should obtain them from illegal websites. This will be heavily reinforced.
-Along similar lines, do not post explicitly sexual material (pornography). This is illegal to host on ProBoards and will not be tolerated. Fanfiction or fanart of this nature is banned from this board. Linking is at your own discretion, however, it is discouraged, and I’m pretty sure it’s also illegal. No underage depictions/descriptions of sexual behavior is to be posted, either. Offenders will be banned, no exceptions. Need I say, it’s illegal.
-Signature/Avatar Guidelines: Please, no spoilers in images or text. Avatar image size limit: 100x100 pixels. Sig image size limit: 637x150 pixels. Do not use others' fanart without permission. (That’s a copyright infringement on so many levels.) Otherwise, be creative and use the space in whatever way you can!
-Lastly, please make embedded images a reasonable size, i.e. 600x800 or so. It makes for much neater browsing. Thanks!
Your humble Brigade Chief,
Jen
